HOW DOES THERAPY WORK?
Understanding how therapy works is complex and varies greatly depending on individual needs, goals, and motivations. Therapy aims to illuminate aspects of our lives that may be hidden or overlooked, leading to damaging patterns we struggle to change. Unaddressed issues often exert a powerful influence on our lives, manifesting in diverse challenges ranging from relationship issues to mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, and addiction.

By delving into our unconscious and addressing underlying wounds, therapy allows us to reconcile with our past, ourselves, and others, fostering a sense of peace in the present. Through confronting our fears and uncovering hidden truths, we liberate ourselves from their grip, awakening to our true potential and empowering ourselves to create the life we desire.

People seek therapy for various reasons, whether it's to achieve short-term goals, heal from past traumas, manage mental health conditions, navigate difficult relationships, or simply to embark on a journey of self-discovery and personal development. The duration of therapy varies from person to person; some may find relief in a few months, while others choose to engage in therapy for many years. Ultimately, the decision rests with the individual, who can
determine what they seek from the therapeutic process.

If you're curious about how therapy can benefit you, don't hesitate to reach out for a conversation. Together, we can explore how therapy can support you on your unique journey towards healing and growth.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THERAPY?
The benefits of therapy are numerous and far-reaching. While the list could extend indefinitely, here are some key examples: therapy offers liberation from conditions like depression, anxiety, and other mental health or personality challenges. It provides clarity, shifts perspectives, and reveals blind spots hindering personal growth. Therapy helps identify and transform unhealthy patterns, nurtures meaningful relationships, and facilitates healing from individual and intergenerational trauma, ultimately enhancing overall quality of life.

Engaging in therapy empowers individuals to confront difficult issues, establish clear boundaries with themselves and others, and cultivate a sense of groundedness and peace with their choices and identities.

Therapy serves as a judgment-free space for self-exploration, where individuals can authentically express themselves without fear of criticism or bias.

Further, therapy revitalizes individuals by reconnecting them with parts of themselves that may have become dormant or disconnected over time.

Through therapy, individuals learn and practice empowered communication skills, develop self-confidence, and cultivate trust and self-love.

Ultimately, the benefits of therapy are tailored to each individual's unique situation and goals, offering personalized support and guidance on their journey towards healing and self-discovery.

HOW DOES COACHING WORK?
Life Coaching works with individuals, couples, families, solopreneurs and small business owners toward making improvements in their lives, reaching their potential, aiming for higher goals, and creating a pathway forward. The coaching process reaches untapped sources of imagination, creativity, productivity, and leadership possibilities.

Coaches act as unbiased partners who help clients see the issues, uncover the obstacles, reflect the resistance and move out of stuck states to co-create a path forward, holding clients accountable to reach the desired goals.

Coaching can feel very similar to therapy, but does not address trauma or major medical and/or clinically diagnosable issues.

HOW DO I CHOOSE THE RIGHT THERAPIST OR COACH FOR ME?
Finding the right therapist (or coach) for you can be daunting, even frustrating. It may even feel similar to online dating these days - dread. The therapeutic relationship is very important, and you want to search for a person who feels like a good fit for you.

First, you should seek a brief Intro Meeting or Consultation. This will let each of you get a sense of the person you will be sharing your life with.

Top Things to Look For:

1. Feeling Safe and Understood. This is the primary foundation for deep and effective therapeutic work. In order to allow yourself freedom to go deep, you need to feel safe, comfortable and not judged.

2. The clinician should have a passion for their work and how it works. They should be able to speak to you interestingly and intelligently about this, in a way that you can understand and that resonates for you.

3. A great therapist will challenge you. Sometimes therapists are very warm, supportive, and kind, which is wonderful, but they may not offer feedback, be engaged, and interactive, challenging you to grow. Therapy is best when it is understanding and still warmly nudging you to move into your life.

4. Good Communication Skills and Relatability are also are important.

5. Unique Specializations – Addiction, Chronic Illness, OCD/Hoarding, Serious Eating Disorders, etc.

HOW DO I GET THE MOST OUT OF OUR WORK TOGETHER?
Trust Yourself.
Give Yourself Permission.
Have an Idea of Goals.
Be Open to New Possibilities.

Therapy is a collaborative process that you join in with your therapist. You and the therapist work together to develop a plan around mental health concerns, trauma, creating self awareness, and of course a variety of other issues.

Trust yourself to show up. You can do this. It takes a little courage, but the therapist is there to support, hold, and guide you through. You can relax and feel safe.

Give yourself permission to take care of yourself. No one else will give you that permission. And if others are pushing you to go to therapy, you may feel resistant. Just give yourself permission to do something great for you.

If possible, have a clear idea of goals. If not, that is ok too (remember people come to therapy for many reasons, sometimes it is just support).

Be Open - This will help push you out of your comfort zone and get to the heart of the therapeutic relationship and process. Be open to new possibilities, new ways of thinking, new ways of feeling, new ways of relating. New ways of Being.

It is important to understand that facing our fears and our pasts is very uncomfortable, can even produce anxiety, but it is a foundational part of healing and self transformation. Therapy can be scary, and yes it can be painful, but using your courage to move through these areas will create strength, resiliency, self esteem, vitality and freedom, ultimately allowing us to become who we are meant to be.

WILL THERAPY OR COACHING WORK FOR ME?
Yes! If you let it. First you have to show up.

It is like anything we do in life ~ Success is related to motivation, desire, commitment and effort.

HOW LONG WILL I BE IN THERAPY?
People are different. Some come to therapy for short term goals, some stay awhile. There is no set date. People have a wide range of needs and desires. However, there is also no obligation for any set time. Every journey is different.

We will tailor an approach for you.

WHAT IS YOUR THERAPY APPROACH?
There are many approaches offered here. The approach is tailored to you and your needs.
DO I HAVE TO TALK ABOUT MY CHILDHOOD?
No. Most people do, and sometimes it is important to gather information for certain cases. But it is not always needed, and many people do not.
HOW MUCH DOES THERAPY OR COACHING COST?

Some sliding scale fees may be available for those with financial need, based on availability. If need is determined, we will let you know if we can accommodate or may make a referral.

WHAT INSURANCE DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept all PPO insurance plans as out-of-network providers. Upon request, we provide you with a SuperBill at the end of every month. You can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Reimbursement rates will depend on your insurance policy.

We find that this balance usually works well with clients. In our experience, clients have had a hard time finding a good in-network therapist.

Here are some questions you can ask your insurance provider in order to get an accurate idea about your out-of-network insurance benefits.

STEP 1: Find out what percentage is covered for “out-of network” or “non-participating providers.”

STEP 2: Find out the “maximum allowed amount” per session (this is sometimes referred to as “reasonable and customary fees”) Provide CPT/procedure code is 90834 or 90837.

STEP 3: Find out if you have a deductible for out of network providers and how much it is.

STEP 4: Once you know your personal coverage and deductible, you can determine what your "net" out-of-pocket expense will be. (Please note that Kaiser Permanente does not typically offer coverage for Psychotherapy.)

USING EAP & HSA FOR PSYCHOTHERAPY

Health Savings Accounts (HSA) can be used to pay for sessions.

Some employers offer Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) that may cover a certain number of sessions.

USING INSURANCE FOR HYPNOTHERAPY

Insurance companies do not directly cover hypnosis performed by a certified hypnotherapist. Some insurances may cover the services of physicians and mental health professionals who use hypnosis or hypnotherapy tools in their practice. As more and more studies show that hypnosis helps patients with many common medical problems, interest in hypnotherapy for medical issues is greater than ever before, but is still underutilized for these issues (medical necessity, required by insurances). Hypnotherapy is usually considered vocational/avocational self improvement even though it can provide great medical benefits. Hypnotherapists don’t work with insurance companies directly. Therefore, if you are considering hypnosis, check with your insurance company to see if services can be covered, and make it clear that you are interested in being hypnotized for medical purposes. All sessions must be paid out of pocket. A bill can be provided to you for you to submit directly to your insurance to see if it can be reimbursed by your insurance company’s out of network benefits.

USING INSURANCE FOR COACHING

Coaching is not covered by insurance, and benefits cannot be used.
